Some wouldn’t consider scuba diving to be an extreme sport but you’re diving 100+ feet understand with a tank of air (the only thing keeping you alive) strapped to your back, with all kinds of risks. But it can also be really cool being able to explore all kinds of life and reefs that you wouldn’t ever discover on land and scuba diving equipment has drastically improved and is very safe nowadays. With proper qualifications and good decision making scuba diving can be incredibly fun. But you may wonder what you need to able to be scuba dive.Image result for scuba diving

Certification Process

Anyone over 12 can qualify to scuba dive, usually, you would start training in a pool to get familiar with the apparatus and to receive your basic qualifications.

Some of the basic things you’d learn are…

  • What to consider when planning dives
  • How to choose the right scuba gear for you
  • Underwater signals and other diving procedures

You’d also study the manual and answer questions to go with it.

The next part would be getting in the water, starting out in just a confined water like a pool which would simulate like a calm beach. This would help you to become familiar with the scuba diving gear.

Next would be open water dives where you are actually out in the ocean or lake with real conditions. You would take a couple dives with your instructor and then you are set to go on your underwater adventures.

Scuba diving is tons of fun and you could go all over the world exploring shipwrecks, all kinds of cool animals and coral reefs.

Careers in Scuba Diving

Some people even do more with scuba diving than just a hobby, you can make scuba diving a whole career.

  • Underwater criminal investigator
  • Underwater photographer
  • Underwater Welder
  • Scuba instructor

There are all kinds of cool careers that could take you all over the world.

Scuba diving is a cool skill to have and you can apply that skill in your career or just for fun, and you can explore to depths you have never been able to do before.
