White water rafting describes pushing a big inflatable raft down a big powerful stream, river, with a very strong current that will sweep you off your feet. It is impossible to stand up in the kind of rivers, even trying to swim in these strong currents, you wouldn’t last long. These rivers are so strong, a person without a life vest would get swept underneath the surface of the water, and the force and speed would make it almost impossible for anyone to survive in the harsh rapids.
While participating in this high adrenaline, fast pace, and also dangerous sport you must take precautions, so that you can keep yourself and everyone with you safe. First and foremost when dealing with conditions like these, it should be common sense to be wearing a life jacket at all times when in the raft or near the water. Wearing life vests help you stay above the water so you don’t get sucked underneath the swift current. Depending on the river you decide to float, there could be hazardous obstacles in your path; like boulders, rocks, low hanging branches, steep walls. To protect you from head injuries, you should always wear a helmet to prevent your head from bashing into dangerous objects along the river, no matter what skill level you are. Always stay in the boat at all times, and pay attention to what is going on, and what lays ahead in the river.
You must know that you are not the only one in the boat so you cannot be fooling around or dozing off, while there high pressure, very intense situations going on all around you. You have to do your part and pull your weight. Whitewater rafting is a very fun and engaging sport, that you don’t want to live your life without trying it at least once.
